Outstanding Service Award


This award recognizes an NJHIMA member in good standing who has made a significant contribution to the association. This individual demonstrates the following:

  • Has been an NJHIMA member for at least 5 years,
  • Participates in special projects or activities that support health information in NJ,
  • Serves as mentor to potential health information professionals,
  • Furthers the professional standards of the association.

To nominate a member for this award, submit a summary of at least 500 words, but less than 600 words, of the contributions of the nominee.  Please state their name, credential, title, how long they have been in the profession, and what makes them an outstanding health information management professional.

2018 Recipient

Valdery Campos, RHIA

The 2018 recipient of the Outstanding Service Award is Valdery Campos, RHIA. Valdery is a graduate of the first graduating class of the Health Information Management Program at Kean University.  Valdery has over 30 years of experience in Health Information Management in various leadership roles. She has been employed at several institutions including Somerset Medical Center, where she served as Assistant Director for the HIM Department.  She is currently employed at Trinitas Regional Medical Center as Director of Health Information Systems.

Valdery excels in three areas; ethical leadership, service, and kindness.  Valdery leads by example and has inspired other to drive positive change in the HIM arena.  She has a keen sense of integrity and values.  Valdery has a wealth of knowledge and is willing to share that knowledge for the good of NJHIMA, her organization, her employees and for the students she mentors.

She can be described as enthusiastic, motivational to others, and is truly an inspiration to all. Congratulations, Valdery!
