Introduction: Rutgers University School of Health Professions (SHP) invites applications for an open-rank non-tenure track faculty position in the Department of Health Informatics, Master of Science in Health Informatics and Information Management (MSHIIM).
The Department of Health Informatics is in the Rutgers Biomedical Health Science (RBHS) School of Health Professions and is located in Newark, New Jersey. The Department offers a wide range of programs from certificate through doctoral level and is now developing this new MSHIIM with a planned start date of Fall 2017.
Job Description: The 12 month full time appointment will begin on July 1, 2017. This faculty position will have a primary role in on-line teaching but will also include service to the university and profession as well as required scholarship. Other responsibilities include developing and evaluating curriculum; advising and retention activities; assessing student and program objectives; student learning assessment duties; serving on committees; selecting texts; and attending meetings and functions. Every SHP faculty member is expected to participate in scholarly work related to teaching or their discipline.
Required Qualifications: While we are seeking candidates in all areas of Health Information Management and Informatics, we are particularly interested in those with prior teaching experience as well as employment in a related position. Candidates for consideration should hold an earned PhD. Preferred candidate will have a minimum of 3 years recent experience in an HIM/HI related field; Current knowledge of, and skills in, methods of instruction, testing and evaluation of students in an online environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred candidate will have a minimum of 3 years recent experience in an HIM/HI related field; Current knowledge of, and skills in, methods of instruction, testing and evaluation of students in an online environment. minimum of 2 years teaching at postsecondary level preferred; hold an RHIA/RHIT credential in good standing.
