Distinguished Member Award

This award recognizes an NJHIMA member in good standing for at least 10 years who has demonstrated the following:
  • Exhibited service to NJHIMA in a leadership capacity as a Board or Committee member who has contributed above and beyond what is expected,
  • Exhibited educational leadership by presenting at NJHIMA workshops, meetings, or seminars, or contributed in an advisory capacity to HIM programs as an Advisory Board Member or as a site director for directed practice, or have published materials to benefit the HIM profession,
  • Exhibited professional achievement through the development of imaginative administrative or management techniques, or as a recognized resource person in the area of expertise,
  • Exemplifies the professional image of NJHIMA.

To nominate a member for this award, submit a summary of the qualifications of the nominee along with two letters of support from other NJHIMA members in good standing who can attest to the nominee’s accomplishments to:

NJHIMA 2016 Distinguished Member

Peggy Feeley, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, COC

NJHIMA is pleased to award the 2016 Distinguished Member award to Peggy Feeley, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, COC.  Peggy is a graduate of Kean University where she earned her degree in Health Information Administration.  She also served as an adjunct instructor in the Health Information Administration program for Kean University.  Peggy has been a featured speaker on the topic of coding, health information management, and data quality and has authored numerous coding education articles in publications such as For The Record.

Peggy has over 25 years’ experience in ICD-9CM and was on the forefront of educating and training in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS.  She is an AHIMA approved ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS trainer and has trained many coders, clinical documentation specialists, practice managers, and physicians in ICD-10.  Currently, Peggy is the Director of Coding Education and Program Development at NJ Hospital Association - Healthcare Business Solutions where she uses her extensive coding knowledge to educate and support colleagues and customers.

In addition to her outstanding contributions to the world of coding, Peggy is very active in promoting health information management.  She served as President of NJHIMA in 2010 and continues to remain involved in NJHIMA activities.  Peggy encourages the use of social media to “spread the word” about the profession.  She manages the NJHIMA Facebook page and encourages posts from all of the NJHIMA events.  Peggy participates in all NJHIMA and AHIMA rallies and encourages all members to “tweet” as much as possible.

Peggy exemplifies the mission, vision, and cores values of the profession.  NJHIMA proudly congratulates her on her achievements and this well deserved recognition!
